Meet Virginia
As I sit here this morning at the computer, I am overcome with emotion and sadness. I don't usually watch the news because of the pain it causes me. I know to some that may sound like a state of denial, but over a year ago, when struggling with sleepless nights and anxiety, I decided to cut it from my routine. Day after day I was overcome with sadness and shed tears for all of the horror happening in this world. As I started learning Reiki, I gained a greater understanding of energy and the flow of it everywhere. In fact, Reiki can be proven as a healing modality by quantum physics. I will not be going into any detail as I am no subject matter expert on any science. But, we are all radiating our thoughts and emotions continually. If you have ever been in a relationship where your partner is mad and not talking to you, the first hand experience will prove this point. Even the most logical person can acknowledge this concept. The Business Dictionary defines energy as the following: "Measure of the ability of a body or a system to do work or produce a change, expressed usually in joules or kilowatt hours (kWh). No activity is possible without energy and its total amount in the universe is fixed. In other words, it cannot be created or destroyed but can only be changed from one type to another."
I am blessed to have wonderful friends in my life. I call the great ones the "joules" I possess. I do not look at the color of their skin, who they love, or how they choose to worship, and yet that seems to be all society is concerned with today. It is heartbreaking. The people that surround us on a daily basis have an impact on how we see the world and ourselves. So I base my choices on trust, love, integrity, and loyalty, as I am sure many of you reading this do as well. When the articles and news of the happenings in Virginia flooded my Facebook page, I was overcome by the horror that followed. We live in a progressive world with so much potential and yet, we are using the force of a vehicle to hurt and ultimately take lives. We have forgotten the value of one life, the miracle of one breath, and the hopes and dreams of one soul. There has been so much death and despair projected to us that we have become numb to the loss of thousands, month after month and year over year. So many people have chosen to hate more than love and our hearts have become callused. When we lose someone close to us, it shakes our world. We are devastated and must strive to get to the other side of the pain to continue living. No matter where you were born or what you believe that is still true. Why do we allow a level of separation to change how we feel about the same loss in the human race? Are we not all one? I have said many times that we are all stuck on this rock together reeling through space at a lot of miles per hour (Remember that I suck at science.). It would be better for all of us if we learned to get along until Richard Branson perfects space travel.
Usually when hate is a driving factor of action or energy, it is a reaction to a threat of something being taken from us. Love, on the other hand, is an action or energy of giving to something or someone. As a lot of you, I choose love. I choose to give more than I take and believe in the potential of many. We cannot sit still and allow the flow of hate to overcome the good that is in this world. There is a "Superman" or "Superwoman" in each of us. The shift in thought, with a focus on the good and the miracles that happen around us, can change it. The chain reaction concept is a powerful thing and the energy of a positive thought will outshine the bad every time.
We have to learn to love ourselves and others; to do away with criticism and judgment. This is our life and this is our world. We have one chance to make the world a better place. (If you believe in reincarnation, you have more I suppose.) Do not wait another day to tell that person how much you love them, to do something good for someone else, or to just be grateful for the 'joules" in your own life. Use your energy to "produce a change".
I love you my friends. I am thankful for all that you offer in experience and growth. The intent of this post is not political or religious. I needed to write this for me today. To do my part to put some positive energy in the world is my only intent.
