You're Not Alone - July 18, 2017

I am sitting on my mom’s back patio enjoying the cool morning air and watching the sun slowly climb over the mountains above her house. Everything is so green here. After becoming accustomed to the Arizona landscape, the mountains and the trees look so big now. I woke up early and poured a big cup of caffeine and came outside to write this morning. I am working on a self-imposed deadline for my book and am pushing towards it like I always do. I put the book aside to write this week’s blog and will return to it shortly.
I have a lot of thoughts going through my mind this morning. Coming home always does that to me. Home is wherever my mom is. She makes a beautiful home and her strength and spirit amaze me. I once told someone that if all women end up like their mother, I am one of the luckiest people around. She has always been determined and strong. I am so thankful for her example and all the things she has taught me throughout the years. I also spent some time with my sister and 2 of her girls yesterday at the pool. As I watched her with her 3 month old baby, the love I have for her grew stronger by the minute. My sister and I have always been so different and yet, so accepting of each other. The relationship I have with her is a blessing to me. The relationships we have with the women in our lives are so important. Our mothers and sisters and friends are our support system. We have the opportunity to lift each other up and that sisterhood is a beautiful thing.
Every time I come to town, I have nieces that want me to teach them Reiki. I love the way they sit around me while I show them fun things that they really don’t understand yet. I make them laugh and their eyes light up every time they learn something new. I love that they get so excited and enjoy spending that time with me. I hope that their crazy Aunt Karri is a good example to them and that they know I love them more than words can express. I am so blessed to have these women and little women in my life. They are my world.
Love and support are vital to our happiness and growth. We all need people that are at the sidelines of our race cheering us on. We cannot do it alone as much as we think we would like to. My challenge to you all this week is to identify those people in your lives. Seek out the ones that provide you that unconditional love and celebrate the relationship you have with them. Look for ways to be that same person to people around you. Life is a beautiful thing and the strong relationships we have are miracles.
